You have a degree. Awesome. Now what?
You can write a great lesson plan, use Brigance like a pro, and you even know what phonemic awareness means.
But how are you going to get that adorable girl to blend /c/ /a/ /t/ into "cat" (without you both dissolving into tears)?

Take the course that picks up where your degree left off:
The Art of Teaching Reading
Developed by master reading specialist, Nechama Lichtenstein, M.S. Sp.Ed., this training integrates the strongest elements of Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, Read-Bright, Gil Patrick, and Zippety Zappers — plus proprietary resources you won't find anywhere else — to give you everything you need to begin teaching tomorrow.
From ABC to CVC to full fluency, you'll walk away with a structured, sequenced, battle-tested framework + toolkit for teaching reading — so the next time a student is stuck, you won't be.
For struggling readers, reluctant readers, and readers who finished the reader yesterday
— you'll know exactly what to do, and exactly why you're doing it.

Go from college to classroom (or cubicle) with confidence

"Heading into my first job as a P3 provider with a large caseload of kids with learning disabilities, I was lost. College did not prepare me for the basics of teaching reading. I honestly didn't know where to start. Nechama Lichtenstein's course provided me with a clear plan and approach to follow. I knew what to do every session, every day. Her methods are fun, easy to implement, and they really, really work. I finally felt like I could do this job — and do it well."

"What sets this course apart is its breadth. Mrs. Lichtenstein draws from many methodologies, so no matter what a child needs, you have something to reach them with. The course is clear, moves fast, and never drags. Every method comes with a rule, a keyword, a picture — you walk away knowing exactly how to teach it. And her success rate speaks for itself. Your students will actually finish the year reading. I left this course genuinely equipped and confident to teach reading."

"Excellent course and I highly recommend it! Mrs. Lichtenstein doesn't just teach the material — she coaches you with your actual students. She has the patience to sit with the hard cases, talk through what's not working, and give you a clear, specific plan forward. Her explanations are thorough, her mnemonics stick, and her insight into struggling readers is something you can't get from a textbook."

The ABC's of
Reading Instruction
1
The Foundation
Master a clear, step-by-step multisensory system for teaching the alphabet — and how to build phonological awareness into daily instruction from the very first lesson. Get this right — and everything else becomes easier to teach.
2
Building the Reader
Now the real reading begins. Learn how to move students from letters to words with the core skills every student needs: CVC words, word families, digraphs, sight words, and the syllable concept.
3
Expanding the Framework
Take your instruction to the next level. Learn how to teach blends, Y as a vowel, syllable exceptions, and other critical skills for older students — plus practical strategies for supporting learners with persistent reading challenges.
4
Mastery and Beyond
Tackle the tricky patterns that trip students up: Magic E, silent letters, soft C and G, advanced word families, and more. Walk away with the tools and confidence to handle any reader who walks through your door next September.
The training broad enough, thorough enough, and engaging enough to meet every learner where they're at.

"Mrs. Lichtenstein is a born educator — and that's reflected in every minute of this course. The material is clear, thorough, and organized in a way that actually sticks. I walked away knowing exactly how to apply what I learned."

She knows her ABCs — and then some

Like you, Nechama Lichtenstein didn't learn how to teach reading in college. She learned it in the trenches — working with the students everyone else gave up on.
And she didn't start with a neat plug-and-play curriculum either. She built one. Session by session, student by student, observing what worked and ruthlessly cutting what didn't. She trained teachers from the ground up and watched them transform into reading specialists. Trained by masters in the field, including Dr. Helene Ribowsky and Dr. Gil Patrick, she took the best of every course she tried — Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, and Zippity Zappers — and synthesized it into something more powerful than any one program alone.
But the credentials, the strategies, the materials — none of that is what drives her.
What drives her is the belief that every single child can learn to read. Not most children. Not the easy ones. Not the cute ones. Every child. And the only thing standing between a struggling reader and success is a teacher who knows what she’s doing.

"What strikes me most about Nechama Lichtenstein is her unfailing belief in every child's ability to succeed. That belief, combined with a deep understanding of human psychology, allows her to find a fresh approach for every student. She thinks outside the box, explores what others haven't tried, and finds a way — even with the most difficult cases. I've learned so much from her patience, perseverance, and sheer passion to reach every single student. If you're tasked with getting your students to read this year and every year, this is the course to take."

Q is for Questions. A is for Answers.
Is this course for beginners or experienced teachers?
Both. If you're new to reading instruction, this course gives you the complete framework from the ground up. If you've been teaching for years and feel like you should be reaching more of the neurodivergent students in your class, it's for you, too. This course organizes everything you know — fills the gaps, connects the pieces, and gives you critical tools you've been missing.
Do I need to have gone to college to take this course? Do I need any background knowledge?
A basic familiarity with terms like decoding, encoding, and phonemic awareness is helpful — but you don't need to be an expert. If you've worked in a classroom or with students in any capacity, you're ready.
I've already taken Wilson / Orton-Gillingham / Zippety Zappers. Is there anything new here?
Yes. Those are excellent programs — but they're also rigid, highly specific, and built around one methodology. When a student doesn't respond, you're stuck. This course synthesizes the strongest elements of all of them into a flexible, dynamic framework that isn't married to any single approach. You'll never find yourself locked into a script that isn't working. Instead, you'll have a broad enough toolkit to pivot, adapt, and find what actually reaches the child in front of you.
What kinds of students will this course prepare me to teach?
All of them. This course is built for all your students — the ones with ADD/ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, language processing difficulties, the gifted students who need enrichment, average readers who need reinforcement, and everyone in between.
We'll say it one more time:
The only thing standing between a struggling reader and success is a teacher who knows what she's doing.
